The Talking Mirror is a reader supported, subscription advice column created in editorial & oracular traditions. Subscribers purchase a year long subscription and the invitation to ask for advice. Each month, subscribers receive a printed, two-page pamphlet delivered via USPS. Through The Talking Mirror, we cultivate a sense of slow-time and quiet space around topics of great sensitivity and vulnerability.

<<<<<<<<<<<————- The first page of every issue is written in a response to a monthly topic. In December, subscribers can ask personal questions about my art practice, money, parenting, sex, mental health etc…

The Talking Mirror is a practice in reciprocity and trust. Your patronage supports an independent art studio and small press — and ultimately the financial

sovereignty of an artist & mother.

In return you receive a material good of ordinary packaging that proves to be surprisingly grand in its effort to help people approach everyday or extraordinary questions with an attention to complexity, paradox, and possibility. Every issue of The Talking Mirror is crafted with great care, and every question is answered with mindful consideration of the question as it is written.

  • The Talking Mirror is crafted in the editorial tradition. That means each month I choose a few questions to answer in my column and send out a pamphlet that is a lot like a newsletter. Every subscriber receives the same issue.

While I can’t guarantee to answer every question I recieve, I do attempt to answer most questions or answer a question that best addresses a topic many subscribers have inquired about.

  • Readers are invited to ask advice on any topic they wish. Most subscribers ask personal questions about the self, relationships and our connection to the wider world.

The Talking Mirror is non-therapeutic. While I do attempt to offer sound advice, my services lean more toward creative writing than clinical practice.

  • The Talking Mirror is an affordable, low-risk investment. If you have an interest in The Talking Mirror, I encourage you to give it a try.

With that said, TTM is particularly well-received by parents & caregivers, artists, makers and readers.

A kind of intimate, invisible community is created when a large group reads the same editorial every month, especially when participants have an active role in shaping the content of each issue. The Talking Mirror offers individual help, as well as facilitating a group experience completely different from most social activities, online or in-person. TTM encourages contemplative connection.
